LG releases "largest curved TV ever made" - #LGUS #LGUK

UltraHD (4K) screens have an amazing four times the resolution of HD. Curved displays can improve the picture by cutting down reflections. And a mega-wide 21:9 aspect ratio gives you the best possible size for epic movies. Now crank the screen size up to 105 inches, and you've got a cinephile's dream.
LG will lift the curtain on its first UltraHD curved TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in early January and is billing its new 105in, top-of-the-line television display as "officially the largest curved TV ever made."

The Model 105UB9 LCD TV has a 21:9 aspect ratio and boasts a 5,120 x 2,160 screen resolution, which is 11 million pixels if you're counting at home. It's also backlit thanks to some tweaking LG did to its Thin Film Transistor (TFT) pixel circuit technology for LCD displays to counter colour leakage and improve the viewing experience from different angles.

Curved displays on the market now generally use OLED panels which can generate their own light but LG claimed it's solved some key issues around delivering uniform colour and brightness with a large, curved, backlit display and can now "render the minutest detail in breathtaking clarity to create an unprecedented level of viewer immersion" with the 105UB9.

"LG Display has kept its dominant position in the display market with innovative and differentiated technologies," Yong-kee Hwang, senior vice president and head of LG Display's TV Business Unit, said in a statement.

"With a resolution of 11 million pixels, the 105in curved LCD panel is proof of our continued leadership in the next generation display market, offering exceptional world-class value to our customers."

LG didn't divulge pricing or a date when its Model 105UB9 television will be made available, but it will assuredly cost a pretty penny and for now, you can catch a glimpse of it in Las Vegas next month if you're headed to CES.
