He’s famed for playing computer geek Rajesh Koothrappali in The Big Bang Theory.

Perhaps with her career launching role in mind, actor Kunal Nayyar took to the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday sporting the highly distinctive Google Glass.

The 32-year-old star joined co-stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco at the annual event, which saw Parsons win the award for Best Actor in a Comedy.

But while his onscreen flat-mate grabbed the plaudits, Kunal was getting his own fair share of attention courtesy of his Google Glass – which is not openly available to buy until next year.

The Google Glass enables the user to access the internet remotely by voice control
The voice activated device enables users to access the internet by simply issuing a verbal command while on the go.

As well as web-surfing, the wearable device can also take pictures, record videos and send messages, all via a tiny, thumbnail sized screen that sits close to the eye.

Despite the innovative nature of Google’s new venture, it has raised concerns about security and privacy since its early version was released to some developers, is due to go on general sale next year.

Many people fear that the use of Google Glass with its intelligent cameras will erode people's privacy.

Kunal’s public appearance with the device marks its first significant outing, but the London born actor made no mention of it on Twitter as the event drew near.

‘Emmy weekend! Let’s goooooooooooooooo,’ he tweeted on Friday.
