|How modern! Kate is considering using her own pictures of her newborn son for the official royal portrait, in lieu of a more formal professional posed picture!|
Kate Middleton and Prince William are deciding how to use their own personal pictures with Prince George as the baby’s official royal portrait! Pics snapped by the couple and the Middletons are reportedly being considered for the baby’s official portrait — and here are the reasons why.
Portraits of royals throughout history have been documented and preserved in the form of lofty oil paintings, bust sculptures, and professional photographs — but we could very well be in for a royal portrait via Twitpic.
Seriously. A royal aide confirmed that “one of the options they are looking at is releasing a couple of family photos they have taken themselves,” reports the Daily Mirror.
There are several reasons why Kate and Will would favor their own snaps over a formal photo shoot — and convenience and personality are among them.
To start, a posed family portrait was reportedly delayed because of Prince Philip‘s ailing health — immediately following the birth of little Prince George in July, great-grandpa Prince Philip was too ill to attend an official photo session. Rather than bring the family together without him, the Duke and Duchess can release more intimate pics from home with the baby.
Also, Kate is photography-savvy herself, so she may prefer her own candid shots to a more formal portrait. “Kate has a great eye for pictures and wants the first official ones of George to be natural and in a relaxed environment,” a royal source told Mirror. A really low-key picture could really capture the developing personality that the new parents have been getting to know for the past few weeks!
HollywoodLife.com spoke to a royal source who explained that using home photos would be “fine for the private album,” but “not good for an historic first picture of a future monarch.”
The royal baby’s portrait is expected to be revealed on the Kensington Palace Twitter feed, just like the baby’s birth announcement and official birth certificate! Twitter is really modernizing the way the royal family releases their news — and highly anticipated photos!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Would you prefer to see a posed portrait or the Middletons’ family pics of Prince George?
