The staggering number rose from a mere 85,000 Facebook followers before the news broke out of Omar being booted out of Saudi Arabia for being "too beautiful."

The self-proclaimed fashion photographer, model, actor and poet has zoomed into super-stardom after his encounter with the religious police of Saudi Arabia earlier this month. Now, people from around the world are not only swooning over the handsome guy from the UAE, but have all switched on their radars to get the latest news on him by following what apparently looks like his Facebook, Twitter accounts.


Just a few days ago reports surfaced that the Saudi Arabian authorities deported three men off their country for being "too handsome" and that the "Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors [of the Janadriyah Festival] could fall for them." Searches for these three deportees quickly fired up the World Wide Web. However, it was the Facebook post of Omar Borkan Al Gala that got everyone talking about him.

And in just two days, the Dubai-native earned 250,000 more followers, putting his numbers from 85,000 Facebook fans to 335,000 and counting. According to the International Business Times, his Facebook Likes have already doubled since then.

And this figure has doubled in another two days. Omar has 441,335 Likes as of April 29 with 165,337 users talking about him. He was averaging 5,000 likes per hour from April 29, 3am EST and 7 am EST. The staggering number rose from a mere 85,000 Facebook followers before the news broke out of Omar being booted out of Saudi Arabia for being "too beautiful."


Women all around the world have also been buzzing about him. The Twitterverse has been filled with Omar-related tweets since his name came out. Women's tweets often talk about how "hot" he is, while men say the Riyadh police are just jealous of Omar. A number of parody accounts have also been created online.
