Katie Holmes is reunited with daughter Suri after China trip (8 PICS)

Most mothers can bear to be parted from their children for over a day.

So after being separated from daughter Suri for several days while she was away in China, Katie Holmes looked thrilled to be back together with the six-year-old.

And to make up for their time apart, the former Dawson's Creek star, 33, treated the little girl to chocolate cupcakes.

Looking chic in a peach jacket from her Holmes Yang fashion range and ripped jeans, the actress and Suri visited Jacques Torres Chocolatier in New York City.

While her mother was going for casual chic, Suri looked adorable in a grey stripped dress and silver ballet pumps.

Keeping a tight hold of her cuddly panda bear, Suri couldn't wait to chow down on her chocolate muffin as she left the store.

Earlier this week, Katie had been in China promoting the Artistry on Ice event, for which she is promotional ambassador.

So it was up to dad Tom Cruise to take care of their daughter, even treating her to a night out with the grown-ups.

Suri joined teenage brother Connor and Tom at a dinner to mark the actor receiving the Friars Club’s Entertainment Icon award.

The six-year-old appeared to be the only child at the event in New York and wore a pink ballgown and gold high heels.

Aside from Tom, the only people to have received the Entertainment Icon award since the club’s launch in 1904 are Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra.
