Bieber reaches out to disabled fan

Justin Bieber has reached out to offer his love and support to a disabled fan who has been helped by his music.

Megan Ham, 11, from Vancouver has suffered from severe neurological condition Lissencephaly all her life. Doctors had thought she would never be able to communicate, but when she hears Justin Bieber songs she smiles and kicks her feet along to the music.

The 18-year-old teen heartthrob has been told about Megan, and has sent her a message promising he will come and meet her when he performs in Portland, Oregon on his world tour in October.

Justin tweeted a link to a local news story about Megan and said: "MEGAN you stay strong for me and I'm gonna make sure we meet when i come to Portland. Love you and Thank You."

Megan's teachers at Hearthwood Elementary School in Vancouver discovered her love for Bieber by accident one day when his song popped up on the radio. Now her wheelchair is equipped with a special switch that allows her to listen to his songs whenever she wants.

Lissencephaly is a very rare condition with only 1,500 cases known worldwide. Doctors say Megan will never be able to walk or talk, and they once told her family she would never be able to express emotions.

But now her family are able to communicate with her through her love of Justin's music, making them all Beliebers.

Megan's father Michael Ham told KPTV: "We never thought we would feel that, from what the doctors said at the beginning. This has really opened up a lot of doors. It makes me want to cry, she's happy and she's healthy, it's a pretty big deal."

Her teacher Kim Greaves said: "It really helps her to get through the day. It keeps her happy and it keeps her comfortable."

Megan's condition means she can't see Justin in concert, but her mother, Roxanne Ham, said meeting him "would mean the world to her".
