Samsung Galaxy S III to come with wireless charging (3 PICS | SPECS)

New rumours about the upcoming flagship Android handset from Samsung suggest that you will be able to charge it without hooking it to any wire, and it’ll feature the much-hyped Exynos chip.

Much like the several rumours that come before the launch of an Apple product, Samsung’s Galaxy S III has had rumour-mongers spreading gossip about the upcoming flagship Android handset. The two latest, yet believable, pieces of information surround the charger and the processor.

Apparently, the new Samsung Galaxy S III will support wireless charging out of the box. What this means is that it’ll come with built-in inductive charger, and when placed on an inductive mat, it’ll start charging wirelessly – no messy cables! Inductive charging isn’t a new phenomenon in phones, having first been debuted on the Palm Pre a few years ago. Still, it’s a nice addition to a world where we want to break free of our cable-shackles.

The other big rumour surrounding the phone is the inclusion of a next-gen quad-core Exynos chip to power the handset. The report from Korea Times says that the processor will be quad-core, going against the earlier rumours we have heard that the Exynos chip employs a dual-core CPU and a quad-core GPU, much like the A5X chip powering the new iPad. Honestly though, from what we have read about the Exynos so far, its 2GHz dual-core CPU should run almost as fast as the current generation of quad-core CPUs out there, so if Samsung wants battery efficiency, it makes sense to put in an Exynos chip with the earlier specifications into their flagship handset.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is expected to be unveiled in May.
