The teen singer Justin Birber with his Fisker Karma luxury plug-in hybrid car. |
The handover was broadcast on the talkshow "Ellen", where Bieber was given the keys to a shiny black example of the Fisker Karma - a car made by a company surrounded in controversy having missed ambitious production deadlines despite government handouts.
The Fisker Karma will look a little out of place with the rest of Bieber's fuel guzzlers.
He has the aforementioned Gallardo, a Range Rover, a Rolls Royce and a matte black Porsche 911 Turbo.
In September last year Bieber had a minor car park bingle with a Honda Civic while he was driving his matte black Ferrari F430.
It is not clear whether Bieber's manager paid for the Karma or if it came free of charge or was heavily discounted.
Its other high-profile owner is Ashton Kutcher, whose character Walden Schmidt drives a Karma in Two and a Half Men.
Fisker - named after former Aston Martin and BMW designer Henrik Fisker who heads the company - received generous grants from the US government under an alternative energy scheme.
But so far the vehicle has not met its production deadlines and the company is trying to raise new capital to get production up and running at full capacity.
