Liam Hemsworth Defends Miley Cyrus' 'Stoner' Joke (VIDEO)

Liam Hemsworth has stood up for Miley Cyrus regarding her joke that she called herself "a stoner" at her 19th birthday party. "She's in a room full of her best friends," he said in an interview with Details magazine. "And you have one person who comes in there and videos it. The poor girl can't have one night where she can feel safe in her own world. It's ridiculous," he added.

During the interview for the March issue of the publication, Hemsworth also talked about his relationship with Cyrus which began after they met on the set of "The Last Song". He said, "What happened happened, and we've been together two and a half years."

"She makes me really happy," the 22-year-old actor further gushed. "When you start, you want to be professional, but when you're filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you're not human if you don't feel something."

In addition, Hemsworth told the publication about his excitement after receiving a call from "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross. He recalled, "I was half asleep listening to the voice mail. He was like, 'You did a great read. Do you want to come and do the movie?' I was like, 'Oh s**t. S**t s**t s**t'."

Talking about his fictional character Gale Hawthorne on the Jennifer Lawrence-starring movie, Hemsworth said, "Gale is someone who wants to stand up to this thing but can't." The Australian hunk went on, "He's pretty powerless."
