Justin Timberlake Unveils Latest Venture: Myspace Tv

A bearded Justin Timberlake hits the stage at a Panasonic press event on Monday (January 9) in Las Vegas.
Sporting a rugged beard and smart suit, Justin Timberlake kicked off the Consumer Electronics Show (Ces) on Monday evening (January 9, 2012) and introduced his latest venture; MySpace TV, reports Rolling Stone magazine.

The singer turned Hollywood actor made headlines last year after it was announced he and Specific Media purchased the once-thriving social network for around $35 million. At the time, Justin spoke of wanting to kick ideas around concerning the future of the website - which was acquired by News Corporation in July 2005 for $580 million. At Monday's unveiling, the Friends with Benefits star discussed how he is rebranding the website to include real time television, saying, "The future of Myspace is about what you're going to do. About who you're going to become.

Myspace TV is the first foray into that future". Specifically, MySpace TV will make use of a library containing 42 million songs and 100,000 music videos - enabling users to instantly discuss them with friends. Setting out his vision, Justin continued, "Why text or email your friends to talk about your favorite programs after they've aired when you could be sharing the experience with real-time interactivity from anywhere across the globe?". Following a partnership signed with Panasonic, the service is likely to expand to reality television and sports channels in the near future, with the actor turned entrepreneur adding, "As the.the last-second shot of your favorite team swishes the net, we're giving you the opportunity to connect your friends to your moments as they're actually occurring".

Though the 30-year-old excitedly labelled MySpace TV, "the evolution" of television - the jury is out as to whether he can recapture some of the users who jumped ship to Facebook following MySpace's demise.
